Thousands Cheer on Veterans in Shelby Parade
Vietnam Veterans Recognized for their Service to America
Veterans from all across Ohio descended on Shelby, Ohio for the Vietnam Veterans Parade on November 6. Over 5,000 people came out to see the parade, which included an Air National Guard flyover, marching bands, floats, and veterans from every county in Ohio. Spectators lined the streets and held signs of support and thanks for the Vietnam era veterans, most of whom did not receive such praise when they returned home four decades ago. Shelby American Legion Post 326 served lunch for hundreds of veterans who participated in the parade. According to one veteran who participated, “"If I was in a hospital bed, I would have somebody wheel me there, it's that important to me."
