American Legion Auxiliary Education Awards
Supporting America's youth through education scholarships is a tangible investment in the country's future. Auxiliary members generously contribute to supporting a variety of scholarship opportunities for relatives of honorably discharged veterans and deserving youth. Assisting today's youth is a smart investment in America's future leaders.
Department President's Scholarship
The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio awards one scholarship of $1,500 and one scholarship of $1,000 annually for students preparing to enter his or her freshman year of college. The applicant must be a veteran or a direct descendant of an honorably discharged veteran.

Continuing Education Grant
The Department of Ohio has established a fund to help meet the needs of upperclassmen. Fifteen $200 grants are distributed on the basis of need and as the applications are received throughout the year until the funds are depleted.

Past President's Parley Nurse's Scholarship
The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio, Past President's Parley has created a program to assist students pursuing a degree in the nursing field. The applicant must be a veteran or a direct descendent of an honorably discharged veteran.

Spirit of Youth
One Junior member in each division will receive a scholarship valued at $1,000 per year for four years (total $4,000). The applicant must have held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the immediate past three years, currently hold a membership card, and continue to maintain her membership throughout the four year scholarship period.

The Samsung American Legion Scholarship
Participants in the Girls and Boys State Programs and who are direct descendents of a U.S. wartime veteran may apply for scholarships courtesy of Samsung.

Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
There will be five scholarships, each in the amount of $1000, awarded in the 2009-2010 administrative year. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded in each division of the American Legion Auxiliary. Applicant must be a member of The American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion and shall have paid dues for the two preceding years and for the calendar year in which application is made.

National President's Scholarship
The National President's scholarships are awarded to children of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for The American Legion. One $2,500 scholarship, one $2,000 scholarship, and one $1,500 in scholarship money will be awarded in each division. Fifteen outstanding students will be awarded a total of $30,000 to further their higher education. The applicant must complete 50 hours of community service during his/her high school years to be eligible for one of these scholarships.

Girl Scout Achievement Award
The American Legion Auxiliary will award a $1,000 scholarship to and outstanding Girl Scout who has received the Gold Award,is actively involved in her community, and has earned her appropriate religious emblem at the Cadet or Senior Scout level.

Americanism Youth Conference
While not a scholarship, the Americanism Youth Conference at Freedom's Foundation is a rewarding experience that high school students should consider. Selected applicants will have their program fee paid for by the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA), sponsoring department or unit to attend the Americanism Youth Conference at Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, PA. Applicants sponsored by the Auxiliary may also be eligible for a stipend up to $200 to offset travel expenses.
